A: Recording sessions take place in our studios with an engineer who will handle all technical aspects of the session as well as provide direction, offer performance feedback, and catch misreads. All of our sessions are done as punch-records.
A: Yes, of course. Our dedicated team of editors will ensure all files are formatted correctly, use proper spacing at the start and end of each file, and have consistent pacing throughout. They work to reduce any distracting elements in the recording (loud breaths, bumps, etc.) and note any misreads for the narrator to re-record.
A: We make casting suggestions based on your criteria or we can review the book. We make casting suggestions based on your criteria or we can review the book, determine the needs of the project, and run them by you for approval. We can send a casting link that would contain stock clips of 3 narrators for a $75 flat fee. Or, we can have 3 narrators record custom auditions using a 2-3 page section of your book for $150 flat fee.
A: Yes. We have the average narrator rate built into our production prices. Some narrators do require a higher rate. If that is the case, the difference between their rate and the average rate will be added to the total PFH price. If you have a personal relationship with a celebrity whome you would like to narrate we can arrange to record them. Otherwise, we can submit an offer to certain celebrities based on your budget.
A: We do. We pay the narrator directly for all full productions we produce, and we handle all corresponding paperwork. We pay all narrators’ rates at SAG-AFTRA scale, which includes 13% in addition to their fee for pension and health.
Union regulations state that each narrator must be paid for a minimum of 1 finished hour of audio regardless of whether they record 60 minutes of audio.
A: Yes. There is also an additional fee for producing multi-narrator productions. Starting with the 3rd narrator on a project and continuing with the 4th, 5th, 6th, etc., we add an additional $30 PFH per narrator to our full production fee.
A: After a book has gone through editing, we will have one of our Quality Control engineers review the entire project from start to finish to ensure all misreads/errors are caught for the pickup process and that no further adjustments need to be made.
A: Audio files will be mastered to the technical specifications that are designated by the client and delivered as digital files, usually WAV or MP3. Mastering for CD release is available for an additional $50/PFH.
